Colby VanTassel

Fitness Director

Colby came to Minton's in 2004 from the Texarkana Bandits Hockey team, where he spent 2 years as the head coach of the Bandits.  During his time as coach of the Bandits, his team compiled a record of 63-5-1.  Colby is from Houghton in Michigan's upper peninsula.  He is a graduate of Potsdam State University where his major was mediation and nutrition.  After college, Colby went on to play 325 games of professional hockey where he scored 7 goals, 31 assists, and 1364 penalty minutes.  Before his professional career, he spent time under some of the country's top fitness trainers while playing hockey in the U.S. National programs.  Colby's specialty is training up and coming athletes and is a certified personal trainer through SCW.  As a fitness director, Colby will work to ensure that the Sportsplex will continue to have strong programs, the latest fitness information and the top equipment available to our members.

Rosa Mays

Assistant Fitness Director / Certified Personal Trainer / Group Exercise Instructor

Rosa's fitness career started 17 years ago when she lost over 100lbs.  Because of this, fitness became her life.  Her passion for fitness grew which led her to pursue a career in fitness to teach, motivate and strive to achieve a healthier and fit lifestyle.  Rosa attended courses with the Fitour Fitness Instructor Training Program.  She completed, Certified Personal  Training, Advance Nutrition, Advance Group exercise, and weight training for women.  For the last four years, Rosa was Personal and Cardio Cross Training for the United States Army, Navy, and Marine Corps in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  While there her duties included, teaching Spin and Power Pilate's classes five days a week.  Rosa's goal is to educate and teach what fitness and health is all about.  As she has experienced years ago, "Be proud of who you are and strive to achieve the maximum in fitness."

Mark Jackson

Certified Personal Trainer

Mark is a Texarkana, AR native. He graduated from Arkansas High in 1997. He, then attended Texarkana College and later graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training from Southern Arkansas University. After graduation, he was hired at Minton's and in August of 2006 received his certification in Personal Training. In the past, he also worked at St. Michael's Rehabilitation Center as a Physical Medicine Technician concentrating on physical and occupational therapy with post surgical patients.

Jake Hanson

Certified Personal Trainer

Jake,originally from Peoria Illinois, came to Texarkana in 2003 as a member of the Texarkana Bandits Jr. A hockey team. Jake now makes
Texarkana home and is a certified Personal Trainer through SCW. Jake's specialty is working with athletes and over weight children.

Courtney Barker

Certified Personal Trainer

Courtney came to Minton’s in 2006 from Southern Arkansas University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic training. In August of 2006, Courtney received her Personal Training Certification from SCW Fitness. Courtney, who is originally from Hope, Arkansas chose the fitness industry because of her desire to make a difference in peoples lives. During college, Courtney spent time helping rehabilitate injured athletes in various sports. Her hobbies include hunting, fishing, and many outdoor related activities.

Pam Bailes

Certified Personal Trainer

Pam has been with the Sportsplex for approximately 20 years. During her tenure, she has trained hundreds of members who have lost literally hundreds of pounds. In addition to Pam’s personal training at the sportsplex, you can see her monthly feature of “ask the experts” in the Four States Living Magazine. Pam is a proven marathon runner. Whether you want to shape up for a swim suit or get involved in an advanced group exercise class, Call Pam and she will assist you in achieving your personal goals.
