General Information
The Program
Minton’s Health and Wellness Preschool curriculum is designed to encourage healthy, active lifestyles, going beyond physical wellbeing and promoting teamwork, positive self image and communication in children.
The Classrooms
Does your child like to be part of something exciting? We have 15 classrooms, and each is colorfully themed to create excitement for your child to be part of a classroom “team.”
The People
Teaching your child basic habits of healthy living that will last a lifetime is what has gained Minton’s national recognition by Time Magazine and awards for Best Children’s Program in the nation by leading industry publications. But, closest to their heart is providing a safe, happy and healthy environment where your child can learn, play and relax.
The Atmosphere
Does your child have “meltdowns” when you drop him or her off at their daycare? Closed in spaces may make your child uncomfortable. It could be a reason why they dread going. Minton’s new childcare facility is a spacious 20,000 square feet. Plenty of space and color allows your child to feel like there is a whole world of things to do and room to spread out.
Infant Care
Minton’s Sportsplex endeavors to offer the highest quality childcare in the community, with a nurturing infant center that focuses on sensory development. The use of bright colors and floor activities with soft art is used to stimulate brain development. Weather permitting, each infant receives the required outdoor time that is essential for development as well. A playground meets the needs for both infants and toddlers. Minton’s infant care has three rooms that can accomodate 10 infants and 2 staff members per room.
Nurturing caregivers play a key role in our infant center, and each parent is provided daily communication sheets to insure accurate communication between the families and the center. This helps meet each individual infant’s needs and assists with keeping them on a time schedule. Infants receive proper floor activity time, outdoor time and are held for feeding to help soothe the infant and aid in relaxation.
It is important to us that our facility is a state-of-the-art child development center with the highest of standards and that it is maintained and sanitized to the highest of standards as well. Daily disinfections are used on all toys and common items, with a documented cleaning schedule to help prevent cross contamination. Infection control is an issue with children of all ages, and proper cleaning and disinfecting along with handwashing is essential in the prevention of infection transmission.
Toddler Care
Our toddler area for children ages one and two has several rooms. The rooms are divided according to age and development. We have set aside several rooms for potty training. One of these rooms has cribs for toddlers not quite ready for nap mats. The one-year-old rooms can accomodate 13 toddlers and 2 staff members. The two-year-old rooms can accomodate 9 toddlers and 1 staff member.
The toddler is introduced to our state-of-the-art center for dramatic play, blocks and manipulatives. An area on the infant and toddler play ground has a sand and water table that will aid in the development of touch and sensory. The toddlers are also exposed to learning through music and movement. This is the first introduction to the health and wellness aspect of the curriculum.
Staying consistent with our infant child development program, we also provide daily communication sheets to toddler’s families. This aids in communication between center staff and families to provide the best care possible for the children.
It is just as important to provide a clean safe environment for all children in the center, so daily cleaning schedules are adhered to as well as the disinfecting of all common items. This is a practice used for all age groups. Part of health and wellness is a clean and inviting environment.
